About Us
Student journalism.
Quality reporting, close analysis, unique perspectives.
Founded late in 2022, The Arrow is Hunter College's newest student publication. Aiming to promote student journalism from a diverse campus, The Arrow provides readers with unique perspectives on everything from music to politics, from city news to global issues — all with the standards of a professional magazine.
Though this magazine is only just beginning to stand on its own two feet, it is preceded by another Hunter publication, coincidentally also named the Hunter Arrow. The Hunter Arrow was founded in the first half of the 20th century, long before Hunter and Lehman Colleges separated into two campuses. Back then, reporting on both "uptown" and "downtown" happenings, the Hunter Arrow was staffed by those with a distinctly leftist bent, owing to many of their families valuing class consciousness and supporting labor struggles.

While the Arrow newspaper has been out of publication for many years — in fact, The Arrow magazine team only learned about it a few days before launching this site — we hope that The Arrow magazine will carry on its legacy of student reporting by giving young journalists the opportunity to publish their stories, the stories of their communities, and the stories often overlooked.
The Arrow accepts submissions from any student at Hunter College, provided that they follow the Submission Guidelines.
